My Latest Project
Take a dive into the progress and details of my biggest project yet. As you may know I have a slight obsession with Toyotas, the 2uzfe 4.7L V8 has proven its reliability day in and day out with a large amount of abuse and a low amount of maintenance. I took my crew cab 2004 Toyota Tacoma and decided to motor swap it, shoving the trusty 4.7 Tundra motor in it (very tight fit!), and some Ford Super 60 front and 10.5 sterling rear axle under it. Axels were geared 5:38 and an air locker in the rear, I should have put one in the front as well but I was being cheap. I then used Busted Knuckle Off-road 4-Link Calculator and built my 4link suspension in the rear with some 16" coil overs bolting to the trailing arms. And went with a 3link front, there was limited room with the truss on the axle and motor being so big for the engine bay, with some 14" coil overs. If you are curious about the valving and spring rates I can send you the information. I built a whole new frame and a KILLER exocage that connects to the rock sliders and bumpers. The exocage was probably my favorite part of the build, and since I am on the subject of favorite I will tell you my least favorite part so far....the wiring.... figuring out how to connect the Tacoma wiring harness to the Tundra computer has been an absolute nightmare but I believe I may have got it. I will be testing it out in the near future and be back with some updates.
